Holiday Message from the President of the Niagara Bruce Trail Club
Well, it is hard to believe that it is already time to say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. So, as we celebrate this holiday season, I hope we will continue to share time with family and friends. Let us use this time to reflect and count our blessings. The greatest gift we could exchange this season is to serve one another.
One of the great things about living in Canada is that we celebrate diverse cultures and traditions. At this time, some are dashing around malls doing last minute Christmas shopping wondering what to buy that person who has everything? Why not give the gift of a Bruce Trail membership? Others fill their homes with the aromas of baking, preparing favorite traditional foods. Many take time to reflect on the year gone by, for better or worse, with hopes and plans for the year to come.
No matter your religion, culture or tradition, give the gift of creating cherished memories together with family and friends – which could include a hike on the Bruce Trail, shared stories of holiday traditions and foods.
In the Chinese culture, 2018 is year of the dog. The Niagara Bruce Trail Club offers a unique way to start off this New Year. Meet at the Rockway Community Centre, 11 am New Year’s Day for a hike, followed by a light lunch. Bring a cold dish to share.
I wish you peace and love this holiday season and best wishes for a safe, healthy and happy new year. We look forward with anticipation to another great year in 2018.
Happy trails,
Debbie Demizio, President, Niagara Bruce Trail Club
